Frozen food retailer, Iceland, is in the news again. This time, the supermarket chain has announced the launch of a paper bag trial.
The move comes in support of a global-wide campaign to reduce plastic output. The aim of the trial is to investigate whether the company’s customers are willing to ditch plastic carrier bags and pay a 10p charge for the recyclable and degradable alternative.
The trial is currently rolling out at Merseyside stores, and if successful, the paper bags will be introduced to all of Iceland’s 800 UK stores.
